Abraham Lincoln has a sterling reputation as a writer, orator, and politician. His calm, cool composure shows through in every carefully penned letter and address over his career. However, there are also fascinating instances of insight into Lincoln's focused, carefully directed anger. In a medium wherein Lincoln could have re-written his words or refrained from sending the letters, he chose to stand behind the biting words.

On this site, students and teachers will have access to three examples of Lincoln's anger, transcribed into missives to three separate contemporaries of Abraham Lincoln. The goal of this website is to gain a clearer understanding of why Lincoln used anger in his writings.
